Social, Moral, Spiritual and Cultural Education

At Liscard Primary School we believe that the personal development of pupils, spiritually, morally, socially and culturally plays a significant part in their ability to learn and achieve. We aim to provide an inspiring education providing opportunities to explore and develop their own values and beliefs, alongside learning about and respecting others. Creative and imaginative opportunities are provided that inform their perspective on life and create a sense of enjoyment in learning about themselves.

We have consistent, high expectations of behaviour which enables children to recognise the difference between right and wrong. We have a personal link with our community police officers who regularly visit to ensure that our children learn and understand the criminal law and show respect to others in the community. Weekly class councils allow children to discuss moral and ethical issues, understanding and appreciating the viewpoints of others.

Pupils are encouraged to develop and use a range of social skills through a variety of activities and opportunities. Liscard Primary School has a positive relationship with the wider community and we regularly have visitors to discuss and enhance understanding of the wider world and life in modern Britain. British Values plays a significant role in our school and children have a fundamental understanding of what it is to be British.

Children at Liscard Primary School understand and appreciate life in modern Britain today and cultural opportunities are provided to improve understanding and to show respect for different faiths, genders, disabilities and cultures.

Global Education

Liscard Primary School is an expert centre for the Global Learning Programme.  Global learning is the ‘umbrella’ for Philosophy for Children, SMSC and British Values. We are committed to equipping our pupils to succeed in a globalised world by delivering effective teaching and learning about development and global issues. Global learning is an integral part of our curriculum and is fed through all aspects of teaching and learning. Children have developed critical thinking skills through discussion of global issues, linking in with P4C.
