Roots of Empathy

Roots of Empathy

Roots of Empathy is an international, evidence and empathy-based classroom program designed for children ages 5 to 13. Here at Liscard Primary School we have been selected as one of only two schools on The Wirral to have a member of staff who is completing the Roots of Empathy training programme.

The programme supported and evidenced by Sheffield Hallam university has been shown to have a dramatic effect in reducing levels of aggression and violence among school children while raising social/emotional competence and increasing empathy. The program content and philosophies are associated with:- Emotional Literature, temperament, attachment/attunement and neuroscience infant development. Roots of Empathy’s mission is to build caring, peaceful and civil societies through the development of empathy in children and adults.

While our member of staff is training and we are part of the programme with Sheffield Hallam University the Roots of Empathy programme is being used with one of our year 5 classes.  We hope that once our staff member is fully qualified then we will be able to use the programme with more classes across school.
